EXAIM detects the reasoning behind student mistakes using explainable AI and generates personalised, human-readable explanations of the misconception.
Students often carry forward fundamental misunderstandings that are not addressed during assessment. At the same time, educators struggle to provide timely, individualised feedback for large student cohorts. There is a critical need for tools that go beyond scoring — tools that can interpret student reasoning and provide meaningful, automated guidance to correct conceptual errors. This project directly addresses that need by applying Explainable AI. EXAIM was built to close the gap between knowing a student got the wrong answer and understanding why. Traditional multiple-choice tests only give you a score — EXAIM gives you the reasoning, so teachers can intervene and students can actually learn.
